Greenough River Solar Farm – Stage 2
Bright Energy Investments (BEI) has appointed juwi Renewable Energy Pty Ltd to complete the construction of the Greenough River Solar Farm – Stage 2 Project.
The appointment of the Australian arm of juwi follows the administration and subsequent termination of previous contractor RCR O’Donnell Griffin Pty Ltd in late 2018.
Construction of the second stage of the Greenough River Solar Farm has now re-commenced, with a new generation of First Solar panels to be installed.
The 30MW expansion of the solar PV panels will see the installation of more than 300,000 additional panels alongside the original 10MW facility.
The panels operate on a NEXTracker single axis system, which rotates the panels to follow the sun.
Once operational, the solar farm will provide additional power to the SWIS, equivalent to more than the average use of 16,300 households.
The GRSF Stage 2 expansion is due for completion in early 2020.
Stage 2 of the project includes installation of approximately 300,000 additional solar panels that operate on a NEXTracker single axis tracking system.
The second phase will add 30MW to the current capacity, and is expected to produce 89,700MWh per annum. It is expected to avoid 60,548t of carbon dioxide per anmum, which is equivalent to the power supply to 16,383 homes.
